Ritzkes/Vaughan splash to victory at wet Patty Putts Easter Eggstravaganza

The Easter Bunny was busy hiding eggs throughout Riverside that aided in the disc golf action, each prize containing a mulligan for use at the Inaugural Patty Putts Easter Eggstravaganza on April 8 in Swift Current.

The teams were out shooting low despite warm, breezy afternoon conditions that produced wet footing at Riverside Park as the 2023 winter snowpack dissipated.

Coming out on top of the field, we had Isaac Ritskes and Mathew Vaughan shooting a solid -11, edging out Team Deadly Arlen Nickel and Jeri-Ann Brownbridge who shot a -9. They were followed by Dustin Usher and his son, tied with the threesome of Patty Putts, Caleb Laverdiere and Brady Seib. Both teams shot -8.

Everyone found some eggs and spent their mulligans how they deemed fit, but no one made a mulligan more worth it then tournament host, Patty Putts. Standing on Hole 13 not happy with where his Champ Rhyno landed, Patty declared his team was using a mulligan egg. He reached for his R-Pro Pig, threw a forehand and let the left to right side/head wind fade the disc right in to the chains.

Hole 13 is a 185-foot, par three with a water carry and basket under a bridge on a hillside.

Holes 10 and 13 also played as island holes, with Circle 1 islands, drop zones and closest-to-the-pin awards in place. With the ace pot being paid out, the CTP prize on Hole 13 went to Caleb and Brady, who earned a Thought Space Athletics Alter for their bags.

Hole 10 CTP was claimed by none other then Team Deadly member Jeri-Ann Brownbridge, who also provided the CTP prize for Hole 13. The Thought Space Canadian Team Captain absolutely parked a Thought Space Pathfinder three feet past the basket. Hole 10 CTP was provided by Mangy Coyote Media and greatly appreciated.

Thank you every one that came out to the first annual Patty Putts Easter Eggstravaganza Event  today. We were blessed with a nice afternoon. As always everyone’s commitment from out of town is amazing. None of you had to come to Swift Current today or take time out of your Easter celebration in town to golf with me. But you did and I love you all for that.

I had a blast during the round with Chris Istace, Tripp Sevs, Arlen Darby, Jeri-Ann Brownbridge, Brady Seib, and Caleb Laverdiere. It was great to enjoy a friendly competition of doubles with y’all, and share some good times disc golfing.

Rounding out the action today we had Chris and Tripp at -7 taking fourth place, Clint Bueckert and Josiah Sorgen (-6) taking fifth, Tim Temoshawsky and Kurt Turgeon (-5) in sixth, and Steven and Ken from the Moose Jaw Huckers (-4) finishing in seventh.

Cory Himour and Father Murray Disc-Golf (the reason Patty knows about disc golf and started his obsession) finished in 8th with a -2, while Darwin Gooding and Matthew Jarrett (-1) edged out Brandon Wiebe and Lawrence Newburgh.
